Vincent is alive and well and living in Wrexham! Well, at least in a spiritual sense. The above attempt at fancy dress was inspired by an article about Billy Childish, whose hero is Vincent Van Gogh. According to Billy, Vincent understood the battle was with himself, not the approval of others. Childish's work is autobiographical in nature and is more about a search for his own identity and personal salvation than a search for success and critical acclaim. Career advancement might be achieved but at the expense of integrity. He says his target is limitless imagination with limited materials and that you have to be prepared to fail in your striving to create.
